A BAFFLED bus user in a York suburb has asked just where he is supposed to stand when he is trying to catch his coach.
Retired merchant seaman George Young regularly uses the two bus stops on the westbound side of Jockey Lane, in Huntington.
But the 62-year-old said confusion has reigned since developers Persimmon built a new bus shelter in Jockey Lane - but not next to either stop.
He hasn't missed the bus yet because of the problem, but thinks it is only a matter of time before someone does.
George, of Firwood Whin, said: "It isn't exactly clear where the passengers are supposed to stand, or where the buses stop.
"Is it at the shelter or the marked bus stop? I suppose it's tough luck if you're in the wrong place."
Peter Edwards, commercial manager at bus company First York, said he had never heard of this happening before.
But he added: "It shouldn't have caused any problems. The bus stop pole is the important piece of street furniture and that is what our drivers would observe."
And an answer to the puzzle seems close, after intervention from City of York Council.
"The shelter was provided by developer Persimmon Homes. We have asked them to move it closer to the nearest stop and they have agreed."
