Fulford Golf Club have netted a major lift.
The York-based club are to host the Yorkshire Professional Golf Association championships over 36 holes on July 30 and 31.
The Yorkshire Union first division team championship, also over 36 holes, will similarly be played at Fulford on Wednesday, August 21.
Former Yorkshire and England player Jonathan Plaxton, has been nominated to take over from Mike Dale as Fulford captain in April 2003. Dale becomes captain following Colin Foster this April.
* The Toft Green Golf Society (formerly Exhibition Hotel GS) have arranged their annual summer programme on five courses.
They are: Allerthorpe on May 1, Scarcroft (June 5), Scarborough South Cliff (July 10), The Oaks (August 14) and Gainsborough (championship day, September 11). Details on joining the Society are available from Steve Tanner, 51 St Johns Street, York.
