ONE man died and another was seriously injured after the car they were travelling in flipped on to its roof near Pocklington.
The accident, involving a red Rover, happened on the A1070 between Pocklington and Shiptonthorpe just before 2am today.
Diversions were in place for more than seven hours as accident investigators examined the scene, close to Hayton.
Ambulance crews took both men to York District Hospital where the passenger was confirmed dead on arrival. The driver's injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
Motorists faced delays today as eastbound traffic on the A1079 was diverted through Bielby and westbound traffic was diverted through Burnby.
The road was finally reopened just after 9.15am.
