POLICE in York are appealing for witnesses to a city centre attack in which a man had both his ankles broken.
Several people are believed to have been involved in the attack, which happened near to the City Screen cinema, off Coney Street.
The victim, who is believed to have been involved in a fracas with one of the group prior to the incident, suffered two broken ankles and bruising to his arms, chest and head.
His ankle injuries are thought to have been caused through being stamped upon while on the ground.
The attack happened at about 6.30pm on Friday, December 21, and police say the area would have been very busy at the time.
Anyone with information should call PC Richard Coultous on 631321.
