England and Yorkshire cricketing legend Fred Trueman bowled members of Thirsk Cricket Club over when he helped them to celebrate the club's 150th anniversary.
The celebratory dinner dance, supported by local building company Severfield Reeve Projects Ltd, attracted 365 guests.
Supporting speakers were George Gifford chairman, of Thirsk CC, Simon Barton, chairman of Thirsk Athletic Sports and Social Club, and Albert Pattison, secretary of Hunters the Estate Agents York and District Senior Cricket League, of which Thirsk CC are members.
A display of Thirsk club history, memorabilia and other archive material, researched by Pat Ruecroft and designed by Paul Dennis, was the main focal point for the 100 plus past and present playing members.
A special bottle of commemorative beer, brewed and provided by club sponsor Nick Stafford of Hambleton Ales, was supplied.
