WHETHER it's Bob the Builder, or his mates Tom, Dick or Harriet - if he or she did good work for you, they could win a national prize.

The Federation of Master Builders is combing Yorkshire and the country as a whole for outstanding craftsmen for its national Builder of the Year contest.

It's up to the public to vote, so if you're delighted with your builder, get a nomination form by calling 0800 096 5765 or visiting the Federation of Master Builder's website on www.fmb.org.uk.

Regional winners are put forward for the national title of Master Builder of the Year and could win a luxury holiday worth £3000. Builders from all over the country can win awards for projects such as house extensions, loft conversions, refurbishments and restorations of listed buildings.

Ian Davis, director general of the FMB says: "It seems that only the bad builders make the news, but we are calling for satisfied customers up and down the country to speak up and vote for all the good builders out there."

The Master Builder of the Year Awards are open to all builders with five categories covering everything from professional home improvement projects right up to commercial projects costing up to £5 million.

The closing date for entries is March 30, 2002.
