TONY Bloomfield, 34, of Filey, scooped the highest accolade available at the annual awards ceremony of Bishop Burton College, held at Beverley Minster.
He won the Dennis Hurst Medal, which is awarded to only one student each year, and was also awarded the Institute of Horticulture prize for being the top horticultural student.
He has now started up his own business and has enrolled on to the Higher National Certificate in Garden Design.
