LOVE is still in the air this Christmas for one York couple - after 60 years of marriage.
Moira and Charles Pithers, of Mallard Way, Haxby, tied the knot on Boxing Day in 1941 after meeting during a night out with friends.
The diamond couple were separated for more than three years after Charles's bomber was shot down over Germany during the Second World War.
"It was very difficult," he said.
"We were reunited at York Station, which was very emotional.
"It's great to celebrate our anniversary at Christmas - everyone is always in a festive mood."
Moira said: "Charles means everything to me."
The couple, who have one daughter, Kathryn Sanders, are celebrating the occasion with a family meal at the Haxby Court Hotel.
"The secret to a long marriage is having a good argument and getting over it," Charles added.
