YORK City hopes of rounding off a turbulent week with some good news on the pitch was brought to a swift end by the weather on Saturday.
Players and spectators were halfway to Rochdale for the clash at Spotland when the news filtered through the game had been postponed.
Referee Graham Frankland, from Middlesbrough, took the decision at noon after a pitch inspection, deeming the pitch was frozen and hence unplayable.
With the weather reports predicting dipping temperatures and worsening conditions, Frankland was left with little option to call off the match.
No date has been set for the rearranged game.
