FANS' representatives are backing the Evening Press campaign to save York City.
The cash-strapped club is up for sale and will fold if a buyer cannot be found.
The paper's Save City campaign will take a significant step on Saturday when a meeting organised by Sports Editor Martin Jarred will be held with key parties.
"The idea is to try to co-ordinate the campaign and get everyone pulling in the same direction," he said.
"We need to look at all the options available to save the club, including fans in partnership with businesses.
"A public meeting will be held in the New Year, and by that time we hope to have some concrete proposals to put to supporters."
Among those at the meeting will be City director Josh Easby, who joined the board in October; Paul Rawnsley, of accountants Deloitte and Touche's football finance section; York City Supporters' Club representatives Raymond Wynn and Robert Havercroft, along with a member of the southern branch; Malcolm Clarke, national chairman of the Football Supporters' Association; and Joe Haining, who worked closely with Supporters Direct and the Football Supporters' Association.
Martin added: "We know who to approach from a fans' point of view, but what we need is some input from the business community of York."
Businesses who feel they can help should contact Martin, or York City reporter Dave Stanford, on 01904 567136.
