I WISH to offer my sincere gratitude to all the staff at York District Hospital who had the care of my late wife, Joan Cullen, during the final hours of her terminal illness.
Those on duty at ward I4 on December 3, although they had many patients to look after, did everything humanly possible to ease Joan's pain and discomfort during her final hours.
Their consideration for me, keeping vigil, was caring and supportive. Nothing seemed too much trouble for them.
I also wish to thank the consultant Mr Brooks and his team who, in the past used their extraordinary skills to save Joan and give us more time together. Sadly her multiple disabilities finally overwhelmed her and she is now at rest.
Terry Cullen,
Vernon Close,
Bishopthorpe, York.
