THE Young Farmers held their ploughing match on December 9, on land west of Kirkbymoorside on the A170 by kind permission of Mrs J Bargh.
Fifty-three competitors took part. The judges for the vintage classes were Mr W Duck and Mr B Lunn, and for the reversible and conventional classes the judges were Mr P Boocock and Mr Teasdale. Results (in order) - Vintage trailed: A Pashby, A Yeoman, R Jackson. Vintage mounted: P Scruton, C Grice, I Berriman. Conventional: Louise Aconley, J Kilby, T Wall. Reversible: S Garbutt, M Dowson & S Wass, R Scaling. Ryedale Young Farmers: J Hawkins, M Dowson & S Wass. Kirkbymoorside Young Farmers S Wass, R Scaling, J Simpson.
