York Wasps have rubbished rumours that former player of the year Fata Sini has re-signed for the club.
The Samoan, the Evening Press player of the season in 1999, was at Doncaster last term with Wasps' new duo Peter Edwards and Carl Hall.
There was speculation that he too had put pen to paper at Huntington Stadium. But Wasps vice-chairman Russell Greenfield said: "He was here at the match on Sunday but there is no truth in the rumour that he's signed.
He watched the match but apart from that it is completely unfounded." The 34-year-old winger, a former rugby union international with Western Samoa, scored 14 tries in 26 appearances for York in the 1999 season.
