One of the north's most popular ten-kilometre road races, the Leeds Abbey Dash, attracted a near 2,500-strong entry.
The cold conditions and the mainly flat route out to Kirkstall Abbey and back to Leeds Town Hall produced some fast times led by winner Martin Yelling (Bedford). He clocked 29 minutes and 58 seconds to finish five seconds ahead of Mark Hudspith (Morpeth Harriers).
The ladies' race was won by Penny Thackray (Wakefield) in 33-50.
York's Matthew Turner, the second-claim Knavesmire Harrier now running with Kingston-upon-Hull, had a fantastic run, knocking more than two minutes off his personal best with 33-17 for 51st place.
Several other Knavesmire runners also produced personal bests, Philip Duck, Ken Tinker and Dave Berry running particularly well for the men, while in the ladies' event, Knavesmire's Bev Hodgson won the O/45 section. Liz Proctor (Bolton/Courtneys gym) was tenth overall.
Two Knavesmire Harriers ran exceptionally well in the Luton Marathon. Ian Anderson was fourth in 2 hours 39-57 and Steve Boynton was seventh (second male O/45) in 2-48-57.
