York and District Indoor Bowls Club ladies team continued their good form of last year in the Vivienne Trophy with a 105-67 victory over Hartlepool.
Three of York's rinks won and one of the rinks drew.
Playing at Hartlepool, York's Betty Richardson, Cath Blease, Sylvia Walker and Marjorie Elvidge were 11-6 down after nine ends.
But then they lost only three more ends, scoring a five and a four on their way to a 27-16 win.
Pat Bracken, Marilyn Andrews, Ann Coatesworth and Maureen Robinson held off strong resistance by the home team after leading 16-8 with seven ends to go and then 18-17 going into the last end.
The York players dropped the single but came away with a very creditable draw.
Playing at York, Anita Haw, Claris Johnston, Pat Teasdale and Ida West scored two sixes to lead 13-4 after only five ends on their way to winning 34-17.
The rink of Joyce Gee, Doreen Arnett, Margaret Smith and Pat Lofthouse took the lead on the fifth end at 5-4 and never lost it as they won 26-16.
York will play Doncaster in the Zone Final next month.
York continued to dominate their group in the Yorkshire Over 55's League by staying top after a maximum points 101-61 victory over new boys Doncaster.
Playing at York, Fred Clayden, Dennis Haw, Arthur Dunbar and Ken Hutson were 19-6 up after only nine ends on their way to winning 33-19, which included two fives.
Charlie Bateman, Peter Littlewood, Tom Ellis and Doug Mitchell scored ten between the sixth and eighth ends to lead 13-6 and they went on to win 24-12.
Playing at Doncaster, Alwyn Redhead, Dave McCowan, Norman Vause and Dudley Williams were losing 17-16 with two ends to go, but a two on each of those ends gave them a 20-17 win.
Brian Thomas, Alwyn Johnson, Bill Pearson and Geoff Oglesby were losing 5-1 after five ends but then won all but three of the remaining ends, scoring a five in the process, to win 24-13.
York 'B' team won a tough battle 47-33 win over Selby 'B' in the English Indoor Bowling Association Over 60's Double Rinks Championship match played at Thanet Road.
Fred Clayden, Barry Walker, Noel Cammidge and Dudley Williams recovered from being 18-12 behind with five ends to play to lead 19-18 on the 19th end. They managed to increase their lead by five shots to win 24-18.
Frank Turner, Peter Littlewood, Dave McCowan and Doug Mitchell led 18-5 after 13 ends but this was pegged back to 18-14 four ends later before a five sealed a 23-15 win for the home side.
York 'B' are away to Hornsea in the next round.
New Earswick's 15-year-old Stephen Long made his full Yorkshire debut in the 160-88 win over Warwickshire last Saturday. He led for Jim Whitley's rink and they coasted to a 27-10 win.
New Earswick's Yorkshire team captain Anthony Scruton joined up with York's Phil Parsons and scored a maximum eight shots on their way to a 40-12 win.
Malcolm Harrison, with Barry Johnson and Graham Instone, skipped a 19-15 winning risk.
At the same time as the Yorkshire men's match was being played, Yorkshire Ladies president Eylis Davies and her Yorkshire team scored a maximum eight on their way to a 35-13 victory over Warswickshire Ladies.
