CHANGES to GNER's prestigious White Rose service will mean fewer services from York.
The York-based company is to use three leased Eurostar trains to run five extra return services between Leeds and London, from next June.
The changes will mean cuts to return journeys between York and London with the number of services falling from 34 to 32.
The White Rose line was established as an off-peak service between York and London in May 2000.
But GNER chiefs confirmed they plan to reinstate a fast York to Kings Cross morning service.
Two extra northbound services will also run from York to Newcastle. These had been withdrawn previously due to rolling stock shortages.
GNER chief executive Christopher Garnett said: "Until September 11, most of the custom from the York White Rose services came from people travelling south to London, rather than north to York.
"The transfer of these trains to Leeds-London, the UK's largest rail market, will free up a Class 225 train to provide the reinstated service between York and London and extra services north of York."
