A MAN had an amazing escape when he was hit by a train near to York railway station.
The man, who was said to be in his late twenties, suffered head injuries when he was struck by a Liverpool-York service at Holgate Junction, off Holgate Road, at 10.45 last night.
Today the man was in a comfortable condition at York District Hospital, having been moved from the intensive care unit.
British Transport Police said they were not treating the incident as suspicious.
It is thought the man, who has not been named, had been lying with his head on the track.
