AS someone who previously worked in the Royal Mail's York sorting office as clerical staff, I support what Paul Clays said: "Workers stunned at post jobs threat", Evening Press, December 12).
On many evenings, not just the Christmas period, along with other clerical staff, I worked overtime on the processing floor to back up the regular staff.
It's hard work at the best of times but all the people I encountered were a cheerful bunch and extremely hard-working.
It would be a crying shame to lose the service they provide if they are forced into a strike situation. I hope the powers-that-be have a major re-think before carrying out such drastic measures.
