I write in response to Richard Aker's comments on Sir Bernard Ingham (Sir Bernard slams 'civic vandalism' of Coppergate II, December 12).
Having spoken to several English Heritage employees, including the Inspector of Ancient Monuments for Yorkshire, I do not believe English Heritage fully supports the Coppergate Riverside Development. They cannot object to it on archaeological grounds, however, many of the people I have spoken to have serious concerns about the proposals. They cannot make formal submissions to the planning inquiry as English Heritage employees though.
Sir Bernard Ingham may not have been at the elaborate Land Securities exhibition, but neither was I.
I was unaware of it until a couple of months afterwards. Does this mean my opposition to the scheme is invalid despite being a founder of the Castle Area Campaign Group?
