York RI RUFC Under 15s found it tough against a big Dinnington pack as they lost 22-5.
The South Yorkshire side led 12-0 after having the advantage of the slope on their own pitch, and RI's Dave Holt was injured making a tackle which reduced the visitors to 14 players.
Despite their disadvantage, RI reduced the arrears when, after breaks by Daniel Hunt and Gareth Stewart, the ball was swept along the line for Mark Musgrove to power over.
As RI pressed for the equaliser the extra man told and the hosts scored two late tries.
The U15s finish for Christmas by hosting Northallerton at New Lane tonight. Players meet at 5.15pm for a 5.45pm kick-off.
York RI Under 13s ran out of time as they lost 29-24 at Dinnington in their first away game of the season.
Tom Elliott converted his own try as RI trailed 24-7 at half-time.
Winger Will Starkey kept RI in touch when he snapped up a mistake and sprinted the full length of the pitch to score.
With ten minutes to go, RI had brought the score to 29-24 through an Eric Bollison try plus try and conversion by Elliott.
