Floss Slack, who has been connected with the City of York Tennis Championships as a player and administrator for 50 years, is to become president of the Yorkshire Lawn Tennis Association.
She won the York women's doubles seven times with two partners.
She is a former winner of the achievement for Sport Award in York and has been a member of the YLTA Council since 1987.
Mrs Slack will be only the third York person to become president in the YLTA's 117-year history after Arthur Kay in 1955 and Derek Snowdon in 1990.
