Heworth 'A' increased their lead in the York Conservative clubs' Carlsberg-Tetley Snooker League to ten points with a 5-2 victory over Bootham 'B' to end the first half of the season unbeaten.
George Lone took the first frame for Bootham before wins by Steve Burdett, Dave Taylor, Clive Whyte and Neil Wood (52 break) secured the match for Heworth.
Chris Granger gained Bootham a second point but Jason Milner completed the success for Heworth.
This defeat pushed Bootham 'B' down to third place but they have a game in hand.
Acomb 'A' moved into second spot by beating Fulford 'B' 5-2. Trevor Ventress won the first frame for Acomb by inflicting the first defeat of the season on George Toone, with further successes coming from Paul Clark (31 break) Ian Gillies, Richard Harris and Gerald MacKenzie. John Futter and Peter Stroughair replied for Fulford.
Heworth 'B' went 2-0 in front against Bootham 'A' through Brian Birch and Huw Faircliffe only for Bootham to take the lead 3-2 with wins by John Darley, Barry Rankin and Colin Robinson.
Alf Appleby levelled the match with a good victory over Ken Taylor but Brian Coulson made it 4-3 for Bootham 'A', who continue in fourth place.
Fulford 'A' moved up two places from the bottom with a 5-2 victory over Acomb 'B', who are now joint bottom with Fulford 'B'.
Brian Bickerstaff, Simon England, Wayne Pulleston, Alan Reed and Richard Stroughair won for Fulford. Acomb's winners were Ken Bowser and Steve Rodgers.
With George Toon (Fulford) losing this week, Clive Whyte (Heworth) remains the only player with seven wins from seven matches in the Willsden Steel Player of the Year competition.
Neil Wood (Heworth) made a 52 break but Clive Whyte (Heworth) with his 58 break still leads in the North Wolds Printers' competition.
