YOUNG Turk Levent Yalcin has become the latest York City youngster to gain international recognition.
The first year youth team midfielder Levent Yalcin has received a surprise call-up from Turkey.
Yalcin has been requested to be released by City for a selection camp for Turkish youth players between December in Istanbul from December 21 to 27.
He was told of the news by City's Head of Youth Development, Paul Stancliffe.
Middlesbrough-born Yalcin qualifies for Turkey as his father is Turkish.
Yalcin joined the Bootham Crescent set-up on a full-time basis in the summer as part of the three year scholarship programme, having been with the under-16 Centre of Excellence side the previous season. While he was with the younger age group in 2000/01, he made a number of appearances for the Intermediate side, for which he is now a full time squad member.
The Intermediate side did not have a match at the weekend.
