A YORK student has landed a dream part in an unusual Christmas play.
Chris Pearse will be travelling to the Royal Opera House, in London, to perform in a two-week production with the Youth Music Theatre.
Chris, who is 17, has a chorus part as a Woodlander in The Dreaming, a musical version of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Chris, who is a member of New Earswick Operatic Society, said he was delighted to have got the part.
He said: "There were about 3,000 people who auditioned and only around 100 got in.
"I was quite surprised at first because I had auditioned once before and not been successful."
The former Canon Lee School pupil, who is studying theatre studies at York Sixth Form College, said he was thinking about a career on the stage.
Chris said his parents, Jane and Andrew, would be travelling from their home in Rawcliffe to watch the performance.
