A MAN at the centre of a York city centre disturbance in which a police van was damaged by fire has appeared before York Crown Court.
James Honey, 34, of York, yesterday pleaded guilty to affray and arson to a police van during the incident, in Market Street, on August 19.
But he pleaded not guilty to threatening to kill PC Lee Andrew Pointon, which the prosecution accepted. The charge is expected to lie on Honey's file.
Pre-sentence reports will now be completed and Honey is due to be sentenced for the two offences on January 4.
Police were called to Market Street at about 10pm after reports that a crossbow had been fired from a window.
A large firework was also reported to have been thrown into the street.
