ANOTHER man has been arrested by detectives investigating allegations of child abuse at a former North Yorkshire children's home.
Anthony Thomas Shields, of Pinfold Avenue, Sherburn-in- Elmet, appeared before Selby magistrates accused of a number of offences at the former St Camillus School, Scarthingwell, near Tadcaster, between 1973 and 1980.
Shields, 53, described as an assistant farm bailiff, is charged with two serious sexual offences, two indecent assaults, two assaults, and two offences of malicious wounding.
The alleged sexual offences and indecent assault charges will go before York Crown Court on December 14.
The remaining charges were adjourned to Selby Magistrates Court on January 16.
Shields, who denies all the offences, was granted legal aid and was given unconditional bail.
The Evening Press reported in the autumn how a major police investigation, dubbed Operation Courier, was under way into allegations of physical and sexual assault against boys at the school, which was the responsibility of the Catholic Church.
A Leicester man appeared before magistrates last month, accused of indecent assaults and serious sexual offences, and was committed for trial at crown court.
