YOUNGSTERS at Poppleton Junior Football Club put their best feet forward to help the club buy its own pitches.
About 150 children aged between seven and 16 took part in a sponsored fun run around the village.
The money they raised will go towards the £70,000 the club are hoping to realise to set up a new headquarters.
They are buying land at Millfield Lane from York City Council for £30,000 and need the remainder to establish new changing-rooms and facilities.
It was not just the boys who joined the run. Members of the club's Under 13 and 16 girls' teams took part too.
Poppleton JFC are in discussion with Ben Johnson Cricket Club, who play in the Horwath Pulleyn Heselton York Vale League about the possibility of sharing the new facilities.
Pictured above are the runners with ex-Olympic athlete Angela Tooby-Smith, who started the run.
