York and District Indoor Bowls Club enjoyed a clean sweep in the Yorkshire League, the Hebden Trophy and the North Eastern League.
The most important win was in the John Smith's Yorkshire League where they were on top form to trounce local rivals New Earswick 100-45 with all four rinks successful.
York took the maximum 12 points from the game to make a great start to their league title defence.
At New Earswick, Iain Boyle returned to form with an outstanding 28-9 win against his old club, accompanied by Michael Bruce, Ted Boyle and Frank Turner. They scored fours on the ninth and tenth ends to take a 12-4 lead, and thereafter only allowed Rod Walker, Brian Chapman, Paul Dawson and Tony Taylor to score singles on five of the remaining ends.
In the game at Huntington Road, the home team of Ken Harrison, Barry Jack-son, Mick Stannard and John Allan led 7-6 after ten ends against John Emmerson, Mal Harrison, Phil Parsons and Dudley Williams but then dropped a six.
They made amends by immediately scoring a five to tie the scores at 12-12 but that only served as a wake-up call as the York side won all but two of the remaining ends to finish 24-14 victors.
At Thanet Road, Paul Mooring, Graham Brooke, Dave McCowan and Graham Instone showed their class against Anthony Scruton, Bill Waldie, Ralph Tiplady and Harry Rhodes, winning 25-10.
A four on the sixth end to Ray Clark, Tony Abbot, Ken Lippett and rising star Stephen Long put the visitors 7-2 up but it only sparked York into action as Gordon Smith, Dave Hewick, Barry Walker, and Doug Mitchell won ten of the following 13 ends to lead 23-10.
Last year York won all their matches in the group stage of the Hebden Trophy but failed to qualify for the final.
This year they hope to go that one step further, which means picking up more aggregate away wins. This they achieved in their 39-38 victory at North Cave.
Eric Hodgson, Malcolm Thompson, Philip Scott and Dave Dale scored a six on the fourth end to lead 6-4 but didn't score again until the 11th where they trailed 11-6.
A good run saw them take six of the next seven ends to go into a 20-14 lead.
In the other rink, Brian Thomas, Alwyn Redhead, Tony Bryan and Ken Hutson were 14-11 behind after 15 ends.
A three and a two put them ahead only for the home team to score a four and a single to lead 19-16 with two ends to play. A three tied the scores but then honours went to North Cave 20-19.
At York, Fred Clayden, Peter Littlewood, Geoff Oglesby and Ken Patterson were in control throughout and won 26-10, whereas Dennis Haw, Alwyn Johnson, Liam Cahill and Dave Clayton were chasing their game up to the penultimate end when they managed to tie the scores before the visitors claimed a four to win 26-22.
York won the game 87-74 and picked up ten points to North Cave's two.
New Earswick had an emphatic win in the same competition, beating Doncaster 100-44. All four rinks were successful as they picked up the maximum 12 points.
At home, Eric Ward, Barry Harrison, Bill Chittock and Barry Matthews were losing 17-13 with four ends to play but a two, one and six put them ahead.
In the other home rink, Ken Carter, Alf Lewis, Joe Cooper and Brian Hardcastle were in control of their game as their opponents were only allowed to score singles on all but two of their winning ends.
At Doncaster, both rinks won comfortably. Malcolm Beavers, Ron Wood, Robert Domville and Ken Robinson won 33-4, while Ken Plowman, Bob Howland, Alistair Domville and Dennis Ellis won 27-8.
