York and District Ladies were honoured to welcome the English Women's Indoor Bowling Association's president to the club when they staged a friendly game between the President's team and York.
Played over six rinks, the home ladies showed their knowledge of the carpet and took an early 33-17 lead, which proved to be decisive in the end with the final aggregate score being 123-115 to the home team.
New Earswick's hopes of winning the Ron Curry Trophy were thwarted in their second leg game at Scarborough.
Taking a 17-shot advantage after the 172-155 first-leg win, New Earswick were quietly confident of holding the trophy but it wasn't to be as the home side won 209-130 to take the aggregate score 364-302 to win the Trophy.
