TOP Banana, Keith Jackman and Graeme Scott's world music project in York, has set up a series of Sunday music-playing sessions open to interested musicians.
The sessions will be held at the Kingswater Centre, Kingsway North, from 10.30am to 1pm on Sunday, then January 13 and 27, February 10 and 24, March 3, 17 and 24 and April 7.
The number of participants per session will be restricted to 15 and the cost for the series is £25.
"This series will provide an opportunity to compose, experiment and collaborate with other musicians interested in world music," say Keith and Graeme, who can be contacted on 01904 632073 and 01904 645176 for more details.
Keith's musical expertise and teaching includes drum kit, hand drumming, percussion, body percussion, marimba, harmonica, action songs and making instruments from scrap metal.
He has worked with all ages and abilities, and is now presenting world music in schools and with community groups.
He is a member of Chechelele world music choir; Akimbo and Pangolin world music groups; Tashbain, the Klezmer music and story-telling group; and Cinnabar Percussion, who provide workshops for conferences.
Graeme is a York-based pianist whose style ranges from jazz and blues to contemporary and world music. He performs with the Canadian-British poet Paul Sutherland, who runs the Dreamcatcher poetry publication, and they have produced a CD this year entitled Mid Atlantic.
