LACROSSE players at Queen Margaret's School, Escrick, came out on top at the seven-a-side invitational indoor tournament at Harrogate.

A dozen teams took part and the Margaret's girls beat York University 'A' in the final with Jessica Summers netting the golden goal after extra time.

Earlier Queen Margaret's had beaten Harrogate Penguins, York University 'B', Durham University 'A' and Sheffield University.

Upper sixth former Emma Bladon has been selected to play for the North of England.

Tadcaster Grammar School girls finished 12th in the final of the English Schools' Cross-Country Cup final at Stowe School, Buckingham on a hilly, testing course.

Nicola Lampard was 21st, Lauren Mason 40th, Lisa Collett 80th, Kate Hollier 99th, Rhiannon Parsons 102nd and Emma Shooter 124th out of 144 runners.
