A MAGICAL musical experience which draws upon the memories of Christmas past is being prepared for a special street in York.
For singers have been limbering up their voices to sing carols in Kirkgate, the recreated Victorian street at the city's award-winning Castle Museum.
Members of the York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir have been rehearsing for the performances, when they will be joined by children from Hempland Primary School, the Kirkgate Singers and Kirkgate Ladies.
Tickets are sold out for each evening of the event, which takes place today, tomorrow, Friday, Saturday, and next Tuesday. It will begin promptly at 8pm with doors open at 7.30pm.
Kirkgate will be specially decorated, and the singers, accompanied by a piano provided by Riverside Piano centre in Tadcaster, will be in period costume as they present a varied programme of carols.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Lord Mayor's Christmas Cheer Fund, which is distributed to local causes.
