A YORK entrepreneur is the driving force behind local accountants' new knowledge.
Steve Parks, has launched Red Tape, an audio business magazine available on CD or cassette, designed to help accountants earn professional qualification points while they are at the wheel of their cars.
Listening to each Red Tape will count as one CPE or Continuous Professional Education point.
The points are recognised by the Institute for Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
All these bodies require members to keep qualifications up-to-date each year through training and points are awarded for proof of a mix of technical and general business training.
Mr Parks, 28, of Tamworth Road, York is a former journalist with BBC Radio Humberside. He spotted a gap in the market when working as a freelance in York for Radio 4 and Radio 5.
Setting up the operation in Green Park, Sutton-on-the-Forest, he has fused his know-how as a communicator with the knowledge of fellow director and top accountant Charles Lewis.
Each tape is in the format of a business radio programme with interviews, motivational tips, and profiles of innovative companies implementing best practice.
It also features a master class from an acknowledged expert and a humorous section - the Manager's Guide to the Galaxy.
