John Parrott, the 1991 Embassy World and UK Champion, won a hard first round match in the UK Championship at York's Barbican Leisure Centre today, beating Bradley Jones 7-5.
Parrott lead 4-1 but Jones hit back to level at 4-4. The Liverpudlian won the 9th frame, Jones levelled with a 110 break and Parrott took the decider.
Dubliner Michael Judge scored two century breaks (129 and 120) in beating Shokat Ali 7-1 and plays provisional world No 3, Peter Ebdon in the next round starting tomorrow afternoon.
Dave Finbow beat David Gray 7-4 and Allister Carter beat Nigel Bond 7-4.
