Steve Davis won a nailbiting deciding frame to reach the second round of the UK Snooker Championship which began today at York's Barbican Leisure Centre.
He beat Stuart Pettman 7-6 and will play Matthew Stevens on Thursday in the next round.
Davis came from 5-3 down to level at 6-6 and said that he was lucky to win.
"It was a tactical battle from two reds out and I kept him away from the balls on the pillars".
Robin Hull scored the first two centuries in the championship in beating Anthony Davies 7-2. Dominic Dale beat Michael Holt 7-4.
