YORK'S homeless service, Nightstop, is running a caf for the day to raise community awareness over the issue.
Youngsters from the 5th York Our Lady's Brownie pack made jars of mincemeat to sell at the event, which is being held at St Crux Church, in Stonebow, on December 7, between 10am and 4pm.
Nightspot project director John Walker said young homeless people were given temporary accommodation by volunteers across the city. "It's a valuable service," he said.
"We're very grateful to the Brownies for making the mincemeat. It was wonderful to talk to them about homelessness - they were so aware."
