IN reply to 'Residents urged to talk rubbish' (November, 23), as a York resident for 59 years and a council street cleaner for 25, I say yes we do have a problem.
The numbers of York residents and tourists keep on rising, but the number of cleaning staff does not.
If household refuse was not put in litter bins it may help.
As for other unwanted items, skips are provided at Foss Island, a free facility, or you can phone City of York Council and, for a small fee, have it all your rubbish taken away.
So why dump it? Help us to help you to make York a clean city.
P J Harkwick,
Munkton Road, York.
