SEVERUS WMC had to be spot on to claim their place in the last eight of the York John Smith's Sunday League Challenge Trophy after being made to fight all the way by a resilient Jubilee side.
Severus looked to be cruising through as they took a 3-0 lead through Woodward (2) and Depa just into the second half.
Jubilee then made a triple substitution which paid off almost immediately as Dawe reduced the arrears.
A controversial penalty saw Moore pull it back to 3-2 and two minutes later made it 3-3 to to take the tie into extra time.
Severus regained the lead through Lake, but Jubilee hit back to level through Dawe with his second to send the game to penalties which Severus finally winning the shoot out 4-3.
Holders Wigginton cruised through after falling behind to a James Hewitson strike for Acomb WMC. Owen Willis with a hat-trick, Tom Reid (2) and Ian Gallagher all scored in Wigginton's 6-1 win.
Kilner and Osborne both scored twice as Nestl Rowntree won 6-1 at Zafs.
Penalty-taker Gibson and Millett scored for Pocklington as they won their all second division clash 2-1 against Blacksmiths Arms for whom Darren Heels was on the mark.
New Earswick beat Marcia 2-1, Selby Olympia won 2-0 at Derwent United and Neil Ducey scored twice as Pack of Cards progressed 3-1 against Shipton.
Third division Copmanthorpe took an early 2-0 lead through Johanson and Robinson against division six opponents Burton Stone who pulled one back on half time through Smith. Johanson restored Cop's two-goal advantage, but Burton Stone rallied and goals from Ian Rudd and a brace from Pete Barras, his first a 70-yard run beating five Copmanthorpe players, gave them a 4-3 lead.
With time running out Gaz Pudsey equalised to send the game into extra time.
Some outstanding goalkeeping from Lee Taylor in the Burton Stone goal kept Copmanthorpe at Bay until Dave Robinson popped up with the winner.
A single Jonathan Parkin goal gave Wilberfoss a narrow 1-0 win at Wigginton GH. Matty Bostock was on target as Opticare beat Beeswing 4-3. Stewart Nicholl scored twice as the Mount won 4-0 against Hambleton.
First York, languishing at the bottom of division six, have their eyes on cup glory after beating division five opponents Sporting CS 2-1 thanks to goal from Sampson and Worrall.
Thornton hit four as Burnholme crushed BH Colts 7-2. Third division St Clements led by a Matt Collins goal at half-time, but CPP, from division six, won through thanks to two goals from Joel Hardy.
A late goal gave Bishopthorpe a 3-2 win at home to Fulford WMC.
Black Bull raced into a 4-0 half-time lead against Heminbrough through Lindsey (2), Ward and Hodgson. Hemingbrough fought back in the second period through Ward (2) and Singh, but couldn't find an equaliser.
James and Overton were the scorers as Beefeater overcame Kings Arms 2-0. Acomb SC won 3-2 against Nestl Flag who paid for not converting their chances. York Nomads beat Volunteer Reserves 4-0 and Keystones were 5-0 winners over Wanderers while Boy & Barrel hit London York for seven without reply.
In the league, Alan Jackson gave Hounds the lead at Volunteer. Bond then had a penalty saved by Sanderson in the Hounds goal and with seconds remaining Volunteer were given a second penalty when a defender handled on the line. Substitute Lee stepped up to calmly slot home to preserve Volunteers unbeaten first division start.
In division two, Phillips (3), Noble (2) and Smith (2) were on the mark as Fulford Bay beat Riccall 7-3. Richardson, Luck and Andrews were all on target in the first half as Derwent Arms won 3-0 at Carlton.
John Kennely hit four as Acomb Celtic beat Linton-on-Ouse 6-1 in division four. Raskelf consolidated their position with a 9-1 thrashing of Derwent United Reserves.
Richard Robinson gave Inland Revenue the lead against Heworth in division five and further goals from Mark Lund and David Lund built up a 3-0 lead by the 55th minute. Heworth then rallied with a Parker penalty on the hour followed by an O'Loughlin strike ten minutes from time before Ian Pearce hit a 30-yard drive to seal the game for Revenue 4-2. Greyhound posted their record win 16-1 against luckless Northern Spirit.
In the only game in division six, Barlby ran out 7-1 winners at Poppleton with Paul Hughes hitting a hat-trick.
