SESSIONS 'A' continue to set the pace in division one of Focus Fireplaces York and District Table Tennis League.

But York RI 'B' are in hot pursuit after their 9-1 win over INL 'B', who at this early stage must be a candidate for relegation.

Vic Smith and John Hughes each won three for RI while Martin Hood had a good win over Doug Bartle 21-17 21-11.

Brian Quinn won all three for York RI 'A' as they went on to beat INL 'B' 7-3. Paul Noutch took two for RI and Martin Hood won two for INL.

Coneysthorpe 'A' beat Bootham Conservative Club 'B' 6-4 with only two players, Ian Stansfield was unbeaten for Coneysthorpe.

Coneysthorpe 'B' and York RI 'B' drew 5-5, Paul Creswell and Charles Allenby winning two each for Coneysthorpe with Bartle and Adrian McClaren responding with a couple each for RI 'B'.

In division two, Poppleton 'B' lead Sessions 'B' by 11 points but Sessions have a game in hand.

Poppleton 'B' beat Bootham Conservative Club 'C' 7-3 with Dave Rawlings winning all three for Poppleton. The best game of the night was between Rawlings and Richard Ingleby which Rawlings won 20-22 21-8 22-20.

York RI 'C' are in third place after their had a 9-1 win over BT 'A'. Chris Tiffany and Tim Smith each had three wins.

A wining treble by Jill Schofield helped Nestl Rowntree 'B' to a 7-3 win over Northern Electric. John Elliott's three wins could not stop York RI 'D' going down 6-4 to Nestl Rowntree 'A'. Fulford Road WMC 'B' had a 7-3 victory over INL 'C', Ed Wardman winning all three for Fulford.

Chris Armstrong and Jack Kyprian won all the seven sets between them as division three leaders Poppleton 'C' beat York RI 'E' 7-3.

Poppleton 'D' beat York Police 9-1 with John Lloyd and Matthew Ayres each winning three. John Foxton won all three for Coneysthorpe 'C', but they still went down 6-4 to Bootham Conservative Club 'D'.

Fulford Road WMC 'C' beat Terry's 7-3 to climb up the table Bob Young was unbeaten for Fulford.

INL 'D' moved into second place behind division four leaders Norwich Union 'A' after a 10-0 win over bottom team York RI 'I'.

Poppleton 'F' moved off the bottom with their 7-3 win over York RI, Alan Mozley winning all three for Poppleton.

York RI 'H' with Jean Carter winning all three defeated Poppleton 'F' 8-2.
