WE read with interest D J Spink's letter of (November 26) concerning the environment.
RR Donnelley at Flaxby is rightly proud of our "green" credentials, our care for the environment is indeed seen not as an optional extra but a fundamental part of our process and responsibility. I am sure your readers welcome the fact that we do not put paper waste into landfill. Any waste is taken to Nottingham and shredded, pulped, treated with a fire inhibitor and turned into loft insulation.
Our customers, including Yell, are equally active in supporting recycling schemes and work closely with local councils to facilitate this. You can call Yell's recycling scheme on 0800 671 444.

...YELLOW Pages can be recycled and millions of them are every year. They are used to produce cardboard and packaging materials, animal bedding and also loft insulation materials.
The Directory Recycling Scheme, sponsored by Yellow Pages works in partnership with local authorities across the UK. The scheme helps set up and promote Yellow Pages recycling facilities and encourages an increase in the number of Yellow Pages directories recycled by British households.
The York directory is issued in February and the scheme is working closely with the local councils which receive this edition. We hope residents can recycle their old book throughout February and March. More information can be found on www.yellgroup.com.

Directory Recycling Scheme co-ordinator, Meridian TV, Southampton.
