1. Scott McGleish stepped up for the first penalty only to see his well-hit drive brilliantly saved by Fettis.
2. The game twisted again as City substitute Mark Maley failed to take advantage as his effort cannoned back off the bar.
3. The worst penalty of the night was to follow as Colchester Gavin Johnson smashed his spot-kick high and wide.
4. Graham Potter, scorer of City's second goal in normal time, again made no mistake and City were suddenly on their way.
5. Scott Fitzgerald netted for the visitors, but his effort was matched in kind by City's influential skipper Chris Brass, who had opened the scoring in the see-sawing tie almost two hours earlier.
6. Dean Morgan hammered his spot-kick into the net for Colchester.
7. That feat was repeated by City midfielder Nick Richardson to leave Karl Duguid facing the pressure kick.
8. A goal then would have transferred the mounting pressure to City's nominated fifth kicker Michael Proctor, but Duguid's powerful effort was sucked into the midriff of Fettis to spark wild celebrations among the Bootham Crescent faithful.
