IT Sports scored a narrow 5-4 home win over University Students 'C' in men's division one of the York Badminton League.
James Crall and Mike Jones took three University wins for 94-53, but Phil Dyson and Tim Ross swung the match with a six and eight over Ben Tilley and Sam Gardener.
Clifton 'A' scored an 8-1 home win over Selby 77. Ian Shore and Daniel Woolfson topped the best Clifton return with three wins for 90-28, while Dave Hearn and Graham Campbell took the Selby consolation with a seven and 11 over Stuart Robinson and Dave Streather.
York RI scored an easy 9-0 home win over Rowntrees 'A' in mixed division one. Paul Turner and Nicola Coggins were the best Institute pair with three wins for 90-34, while Steve and Emma Andrews responded well for the confectionery side without success.
Clifton 'A' proved the seedings correct with a 7-2 win over their 'B' team clubmates. Ian Shore and Gill McIntosh topscored with three wins for 90-47.
University Students 'B' visited Selby 77 and played well to record a 7-2 win in mixed two. Caroline Grubb and Nick Burton had a great series for the Students taking three straight wins for 90-39.
Shepherds scored a 5-4 home win over Drax 'B' in mixed three, despite having to concede two rubbers through injury. Dave Simpson and Chiara Secchi took the vital win for the home team with a hard-fought 15-9, 12-15, 15-12 over Adam Prescott and Steph Bevan.
Selby Jubilee 'A' had mixed fortunes, winning 6-3 at Drax 'B' and losing 1-8 at Easingwold in the Drax match.
The Drax first pairing of Sue Matchett and Andrew Dunning took the honours with three wins for 99-64.
But the Easingwold match was closer than the final score suggests with the match aces total ending 308-250 in Easingwold's favour. Roy Cannon and Sandra Royle took the Jubilee consolation with a 15-17, 15-11, 15-13 over Alison Monk and Phil Young.
St Johns proved too strong for RI Tuesday/Thursday 'B' in mixed four and won 5-4 despite being a pairing short. Gareth Murray and Angela Sidgreaves took the Student Teacher honours with three tough wins for 119-98.
Fulfordgate 'B' lost out 2-7 at home to YUSC 'B' in mixed five, and then beat Knavesmire 'B' who were a pairing short, by a 5-4 margin.
Garry Turner and Sue Scott did the damage for the University Staff Club with three wins for 90-41, including a 9 and 12 over Pete and Gill Twidell. In the match against Knavesmire the husband and wife pairing of Pete and Gill Twidell scored the vital win with 15-11, 10-15, 15-5 over John Major and Bev Thorpe.
York University Students 'C' put in a good display to beat Selby Jubilee 'C' 7-2 at the Campus Sports Centre. Most notable was the student first pairing of Simon Crall and Dawn Williams who took all three for 90-38.
