A TEAM of young geographers at a York school have navigated their way to the next stage of a worldwide competition.
The three Year 11 pupils, from Bootham School, beat off competition from three other local schools to win the local finals of the Royal Geographical Association's World Wise Quiz.
The trio, Anthony Law, Angela Newton and Liane Holey, will tackle the regional stage next year, and will go on to the Manchester-based national final if they win. From there, they could go on to play in the international final, which would see them make a dream trip to Vancouver, in Canada.
Peter Warn, head of geography at Bootham School, said: "All three of them played well as a team. The competition really caught their interest - it's the fascination which many people have for places and names."
