It's Wetherby's 11th annual charity raceday in aid of the International Spinal Research Trust tomorrow and history could be made on the course for the second time in six months.
Back in May, Peter Niven notched his 1,000th career success at Wetherby and tomorrow, it could be the turn of Adrian Maguire to become only the seventh jockey in British jump-racing history to achieve a four-figure tally.
Maguire reached 999 on Sea Drifter at Newcastle yesterday and, assuming he draws a blank at Market Rasen this afternoon, the Irishman has every chance of reaching his all-consuming goal aboard Diamond Joshua in the Collins Seafood Ltd Juvenile Novices' Hurdle.
Trained at Newmarket by John Berry, Diamond Joshua scored over this course and distance on his hurdling debut and returned here at the beginning of the month to finish a highly-respectable third to Quazar in a Listed event.
A useful recruit to the jumping ranks, nap selection Diamond Joshua can prove a gem for Maguire tomorrow.
Mick Easterby's owners have clubbed together to sponsor the novices' chase, but it could be Tim Easterby who capitalizes on their generosity.
Tim saddles Turgeonev in this £13,000 handicap and the former Micky Hammond-trained gelding looks sure to take plenty of beating.
A workmanlike winner at Newcastle last time, after showing considerable promise on this course on his comeback outing, Turgeonev is expected to make further strides as this season unfolds. Norman Williamson has the mount.
Dix Bay, runner up on this course earlier is month, can go one better in the the McCain Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle.
Mick Easterby's six-year-old, a winner here last season, failed by only half a length to catch Reggie Buck on his latest appearance.
Stepping up an extra half mile tomorrow, Dix Bay should prove a tough nut to crack.
Benbyas, who gained a deserved victory on this course three weeks ago, can follow up in the John Wade Haulage Ltd Novices' Hurdle.
Chicago City, who has been in cracking form lately, is fancied to complete a hat-trick in the Wetherby Steeplechases Sponsorship Club Handicap Chase.
Josh Gifford's eight-year-old seems to go well on flat courses such as this, and anything Gifford sends north of the border is always worthy of special attention.
At Chepstow, the promising Ibal (1-50) and the lightly-weighted Sea Ferry (2-20) are worthy of close attention.
