ANOTHER businessman is amazed that Clifton Moor appears to have been ignored by BT when it comes to ADSL broadband technology.

Mark Brayshaw of Rockin' Horse Promotions in Fewston Drive, Clifton Moor, said he was amazed that local businesses had been criticised by BT for not taking up the technology.

"It's not a case of won't but a very clear case of can't," he complained, pointing out that there was no ADSL-enabled exchange serving Clifton Moor..

"Just one look at the range of businesses operating at Clifton Moor would show BT the potential for ADSL take-up.

"Look at the amount of printers, photographers, graphic designers, software companies and marketing consultants in this one area. We're crying out for broadband."

His repeated requests to BT for a date of availability have been in vain - "even the year would be a start" - and he was now left with little option other than ISDN, which he described as "the poor relative of digital solutions."

"Although faster than the ordinary modem it's still nowhere near as good as ADSL."

He added: "If the take-up elsewhere in the city is so poor then I implore BT to move the technology out of the under-used exchanges and transfer it over here, where we can certainly put it to good use."
