IF those who worship the wide open spaces as a place to work also regard their bodies as temples then they might find a handy shrine for both at Brackenholme Business Park, near Selby.
Farmer David Hare who received £1 million in grants from Yorkshire Forward, the regional development agency as well as from the European development fund for the conversion of barns, stables and open sheds has announced that a gymnasium could eventually be the "wow" factor for his business park.
The first phase for eight units on 11,000 sq ft on his 500 acres of arable land on the outskirts of Hemingbrough is nearly complete - and phase two, another four units representing 4,500 sq ft has begun and the conversions should be completed by the beginning of next year.
Already there has been huge interest in the project. Andrew McBeath of agents FPD Savills reports that one letting - to an unnamed PR and marketing company - is in solicitors' hands, while there are advanced talks taking place for the use of three other offices by a financial consultant, a children's nursery and a community group.
Mr McBeath, who is marketing the project jointly with PPH Commercial of Hull, said: "Yes, a gymnasium is proposed for the use of tenants. As we get more lettings we will assess the demand and if it is justified then it will go ahead."
He added: "We are very pleased with the response. When people drove past the group of farm buildings they went unnoticed. Now it is clearly identifiable as an office complex although it retains its rural character."
Rents, at £11 per sq ft could start at £68 per week. Good value considering that square foot rentals in and around York at around the £14 mark.
Another attraction is that it fronts A63 which connects with the A19 trunk road south of York. Within a 15 minute drive is Goole, Selby, Market Weighton and Howden from where there is the M62 motorway connection.
