A DYNAMIC DJ-ing duo from York are hoping to put a smile on children's faces, with an eight-hour marathon of music.

Steve Dixon and Paul Reilly, who are collectively known as Double Drop, will pull off the epic stint at the Lowther pub, in King's Staith, on December 6.

Steve said: "We have organised this event with the aim of raising money for a Christmas party for the children who will be patients in York District Hospital over the festive season.

"We want to be able to provide them with an assortment of treats, sweets, soft drinks, crisps, decorations and a Christmas tree, and if we raise enough money, some presents like books, puzzles and games."

The duo will play a selection of dance music, including trance, tech house, progressive and classic dance anthems.

They promise they will not be playing Slade, Wizard or Wham!, although they are going to try to mix a "hard house version" of Bing Crosby's White Christmas.

Steve said: "York people are the most generous people around, so we want to give something back to the community.

"There will be no charge for this eight hours of entertainment, but we would ask that visitors to the event make a small donation to the official fund collectors.

"Even if everyone only gives £1, and we have 200 people turn up, that's £200 for the kids confined to hospital at this special time of year."

The event will kick off at 4pm, and finish at midnight.
