HERE is something worth shouting about. The National Railway Museum is free to all from Saturday, and 14 town criers have been hired to spread the glad tidings around York.
Britain's national museums are abolishing admission fees, reopening their doors to the least affluent. That restores the museums' original purpose - to be an educational resource for all.
This good news comes after Jorvik cut the entry price for York residents for the rest of the year.
The NRM's decision to permanently end fees will allow local people to enjoy the delights of the European Museum Of The Year whenever they like. Oyez to that.
