York Acorn RL ladies produced a courageous display against higher league opponents Cottingham Vixens before losing 34-14 in the Women's ARL Cup.
This was arguably Acorn's best display of the season with little to choose between the teams for the first half, Acorn's more experienced counterparts edging it 10-16.
Although Acorn lost their way a little after the restart, there was much to admire about their display especially as they were without three of their more experienced players.
Top performers were Sarah Watson and Toyah Palmer, with tries coming from Yvette Shepherd, Bev Langan and Jenny Garwood to go with a Nicola Parry goal.
