KIRKBYMOORSIDE Reserves found themselves on the wrong end of an extra time defeat in the Scarborough and District FA Cup in a bizarre game against FC Aberdeen.

Their Scarborough opponents kicked off with only nine men but led 1-0 through Jason Prosser.

Two Phil Butler goals put the Moorsiders' ahead but Aberdeen, now up to full strength, levelled through Lee Cappleman.

Aberdeen seemed to be cruising after further goals by Prosser and Cappleman put them 4-2 ahead.

But a dog wandered on to the pitch, causing a considerable hold-up, and in time added on by referee Colin Coote, Kirkbymoorside took the tie into extra time with late goals by David Smith and Steve Trousdale.

Prosser completed his hat-trick and Dave Littlefair netted a penalty as Aberdeen eventually won 4-2 but finished the game as they started it - with nine men as both Paul Slade and Mark Welford were sent off.

Pickering outfit Black Swan have roared back to the top of the first division of the Beckett League with a 2-1 win at Ampleforth.

They had to do it the hard way though, after falling behind to Kevin Wright's header from a 10th minute corner.

Matty Cass levelled four minutes after the break for the champions with a 25 yard shot and Steve Sailes fired in the winner just after the hour. It was the only first division game played because of Scarborough and District FA ties.

Thornton-le-Dale moved into second spot in division two after their 4-2 home win over Old Red House. On target for Thornton-le-Dale were Richard Swiers (2), Jeff Quilter and substitute Stuart Parker.

Heslerton Reserves' Curtis Drummond scored a hat-trick in his side's 4-3 victory against Pickering Royal Oak.

At one stage it looked as though he would be denied his treble by Mark Shepherd's brilliant goalkeeping.

Jerry Field scored Heslerton's other goals and the Oak replies came from Mike Connell, substitute Gary Stamper and Damon Cox.

Goals by Eddie Myers (3), Tom Joyce (2), Daniel Jaques and Paul Doy gave Coxwold a 7-2 victory over Bagby and Balk to move into fourth place.
